The splendor of the Magic Town Music Festival would never happen without the generous donation of time and love of its amazing team! Magic Town Music is produced by 100% volunteer efforts. From ticket sales to travel arrangements to the artists themselves, the efforts of all those involved are beyond priceless. Your dedication to making San Miguel de Allende a quality community will never go unnoticed. You are all angels!
Carrie Cameron: Co-Founder of the Magic Town Music Festival
Carrie is an artist who moved to San Miguel de Allende five years ago. As co-founder of Texas based Love Life Foundation, her efforts have help raise over $2M dollars for at-risk women and children. An avid music lover, Magic Town Music is her latest avenue for raising funds and awareness to the needs of children in the Mexican communities of Guanajuato, Mexico.
Rusty Henson: Co-Founder of the Magic Town Music Festival
Rusty Henson has been involved in charitable pursuits for about 25 years He first volunteeered with the National Sports Center for the Disabled in Winter Park, Colorado as a ski instructor, later introducing hundreds of children to aviation with the EAA Young Eagles program (later helping to begin the “Jóvenes Águilas” program in Mexico), and serving for many years on the Board of Directors of the Metro Denver Boys and Girls Club before moving to Mexico. He started piano lessons at 4 years of age and both music and supporting children’s charities continues to be an important part of his life.
Johnny gets a Little pee’ved when we refer to him as “The Legendary Johnny Starbuck” but how else do you refer to a guy that traveled the world with the Rolling Stones for over 30 years, worked on 700+ concerts as the lead Guitar Tech, and eventually found his true love (Joannie) and his way to San Miguel de Allende? Acting as Stage Manager for Magic Town Music Festival for the fourth straight year, we depend on Johnny to keep everything rolling smoothly, everyone more or less happy, and at the end of the day saying “HEY GUYS! That was a GREAT concert!”
A world-class drummer and music producer with an almost 50 year rock-and-roll career going back to the early days recording and touring with Van Morrison, Rick was Magic Town’s first Music Director and has been “the hardest working man at Magic Town” since 2014. Always ready to lend his diverse talents to ANYONE playing ANY kind of music, Rick has been another reason we are able to continue to bring world-class talent to San Miguel de Allende.
Rich and Beth Wellner
One of the “smart guys”, Rich is a cutting-edge computer scientist who is able to base his consulting business here in San Miguel because he is, well, a “smart guy”. When not running the technical side of things for MTMF, Rich is an accomplished pilot and volunteer for the “Jóvenes Äguilas” program for the Amigos de la Aviación de San Miguel (children’s aviation education and free airplane rides). Beth Wellner owns the travel agency Avid Trip Planner and every year single-handedly books and coordinates accommodations and air and ground travel for the many musicians we bring to San Miguel from the US. Rich and Beth bring a lot to MTMF!
Patrick Zimmerman and Morgan Riddell
Both Patrick and Morgan hail from the “west slope” of Colorado (Vail and Palisade). They have traveled every year to San Miguel since 2014 to help produce the Festival. Patrick and Morgan operate successful “backline” (music equipment) and sound equipment and sound engineering companies and support large indoor and outdoor year-round events all over western Colorado. Patrick also acts as Production Manager for the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheatre in Vail for their world-class dance, symphonic, and rock performances during the summer season. We are VERY thankful to Mountainside Production Services and High Country Backline for their continuing commitment to Magic Town Music Festival and Casa de los Angeles.
Carmen Salmerón and Jose Luis Deanda
Were it not for the “local knowledge”, perseverance, patience, and happy attitudes of these two, Magic Town Music Festival might never have taken flight in 2014. Dealing with local government, vendors, volunteers, contracts, translations, and “management”, Carmen and “JLD” have truly been the “WD-40” for the months leading up to the Festival every year!
